On March 14, I was invited to an elementary school in Kyoto City to conduct a self-defense seminar for children. Every day, there are an endless number of incidents targeting children, such as kidnappings, street killings, and indiscriminate murders. The most important thing that I taught to the children that day was to never approach a person to attack him or her, but instead to shout in a loud voice and run away.
In this session, I taught students how to avoid getting into a dangerous situation, how to escape if they are caught, and how to release their arms or bodies if they are grabbed.
The students and teachers could learn some important lessons, and I hope that they are never in a situation where they need to use the techniques that I taught to them.
