Last weekend, I had the privilege of visiting Federico Sensei’s Hikinami Dojo in Comacchio, Italy! I was able to participate in both the children’s and adults’ classes.

【👦 Children’s Class 👧】
The children were so pure-hearted and listened to everything I said with great focus and effort. Looking at their regular training, I was deeply impressed to see how they incorporated "improving their leg strength (the most important element for escaping) + Tai-sabaki (body shifting)" into a game of tag. The training content was highly considerate of the children's growth, focusing mainly on Tai Waza (body techniques).
We also had a wonderful time enjoying exercises with the children that integrated agility, reflexes, lower body strengthening, and a mindset to overcome fear - all wrapped up in fun elements!
【🥋 Adults’ Class 🥋】
To start off, Federico Sensei gave us a lesson on "Emono-dori" (capturing the weapon). After that, I shared the "Sumi-otoshi" technique (which originally begins from Gasso-uke). Through the lens of biomechanics, I explained step-by-step how to analyze the techniques we practice every day, and we all trained together.
【🍕 After Training... 🥂】
After the session, we went out for pizza with everyone from the adults' class! We had a fantastic time chatting about everything from martial arts to everyday life.
Furthermore, the next day, Sensei and his family took me sightseeing and to a wonderful restaurant. Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the warm hospitality from Sensei and his entire family truly filled both my heart and my stomach.
I am so grateful for the time I spent in Comacchio and the wonderful memories with such kind and warm-hearted people! ✨
